ORLANDO, Florida – SIMETRI founder, president and chief executive officer, Angela Alban, recently joined the Gordon Family Giving Foundation’s (GF2) CodeOrlando camp participants for lunch to share her story with the students.

SIMETRI CEO at CodeOrlando event.CodeOrlando was created as a way to lift underserved students out of generational poverty and introduce more under-represented African-American, Hispanic and female students to the fascinating and fast-growing world of technology right in the Greater Orlando community.

During the second week of the camp, Alban participated in a CodeOrlando lunch-and-learn, which exposed the young group of 30 eighth through 12th graders to distinguished CEOs, academicians and others in technical industries with similar backgrounds.

SIMETRI aims to enhance human performance through innovation, and as such, the SIMETRI team supports STEM initiatives throughout the community.

“As a minority female CEO of a technology and engineering firm, it is important for me to share my experience and my passion for technology with students that are curious or aspiring to pursue a career in a technology-related field or industry,” Alban said. “CodeOrlando directs its attention to underserved minority communities and this partnership could not be a better fit for me and for SIMETRI, given my background and career.”

“It was a privilege to talk to these ambitious, young students about how engineering, science and art can come together in a laboratory environment to develop a product that helps mankind. If just one underserved student we spoke with today goes on to a career like those of the members of my team, I feel like I have made a contribution,” Alban concluded.

About CodeOrlando

The CodeOrlando participants will journey to many local organizations that each represent a different branch of technology, for a hands-on, in-depth look at how technology is designed, developed and implemented across many aspects of daily life, and especially in areas where it is used to better the world. They will also spend a day on the campuses of University of Central Florida, Seminole State University and they will work on projects at Full Sail University.

After students complete the program, GF2 will continue to track and assist in their progress to ensure that they can successfully enter and complete college or the higher education option of their choosing.
